another windy day

Dear Diary,

Here’s another story about a windy day, this one from long ago. I was driving around in the middle of the night in my hometown which is in the center of Illinois where the wind howls down across the prairie with nary a tree to slow it down. And it was a windy night, a very windy night indeed! The sky was full of thousands of things just blowing around in the sky like they had lost their minds. There were paper cups and strings of colored plastic flags and great looping garbage bags and my friend saw a woman’s dress dancing in the night sky. And we were passing a construction site and there was a pallet of rigid insulation boards that lifted up and slowly separated like a great accordion and then the sky was suddenly crazy with thousands of lilting juddering pink boards.
