Dear Diary,

I’m back in glorious Los Angeles. When I got home all of my animals leapt into my arms with joy to see me and I was almost knocked over by the bunny, two cats and three chickens. Well not really. Anyway Hawaii was a lot of fun except for the surfing part. We met our top-secret client who is one of these Horatio Alger-type guys, a captain of commerce and industry who is forever pulling himself up by his bootstraps. He owns about a million restaurants and an ice-cream factory and he’s hiring us to design another restaurant because I guess you can never have too many. Too bad he didn’t want another ice-cream factory! That would be a fun job. Back in the days when I was actually employed we were working on a winery which was quite a hoot, over the course of two years of perpetual redesigning we took a lot of inspiration from the design precedents set by Willy Wonka well that is until the clients finally fired us. But anyways here is a list of various animals that we saw in Hawaii:

A special noble beagle that was sniffing for bananas in peoples luggage and doing an excellent job of it.

A menacing gang of cockroaches that were like the size of belt-buckles.

This croaking frog on Bryant’s back porch that turned out to be an automated security device.

The greatest animal was a deranged green sea turtle that invited me out into the water and then we did a crazy dance.

Also there was a school of glistening fish that followed the turtle around.

We saw a bunch of dogs but the only one that sticks out in my memory was a Great Dane that had a head about the size of a bell, and Bryant’s super-foxy girlfriend called it a Marmaduke.

There was a most interesting tufted bird that alighted on my windowsill and seemed to be trying to tell me something and although the general meaning was evident the specifics of his message eluded me.
